Introduction of the laboratory

Quantum functional material design and application lab is affiliated with School of Physics, Beijing Institute of Technology. The lab is supervised by Prof. Yugui Yao, who is a Cheung Kong Scholars Chair Professor and Distinguished Young Scholar in China. Lab members include 4 associate professors, 2 lecturers, 3 postdoctors, ~10 graduate students. Our main research areas focus on first-principles calculations in spintronics (especially electronic structures of spin-orbital coupling system), exotic quantum property and novel energy materials. Lab members have published ~100 peer reviewed papers including Nature series, PRL, Nano Lett, Adv. Mat., etc. Total citations exceed 5000 times. In recent 5 years,

we have been granted many national science foundations of China (1 Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, four general projects, and three Young Scientist program) and 973 project. The total funding reaches 10 million RMB. At present, the lab is cooperating well with top scientific research institutions including Institute of Physics, Chinese academy of sciences, Beijing University, the University of California, Los Angeles, University of Texas at Dallas, University of Texas at Austin, University of Hong Kong, Singapore University of Technology and Design and Carnegie Mellon University of Science and Technology, etc.
